What is it?
The Last Vikings is… a resource gathering game featuring tiny pixilated vikings that do things when you press a button at the right time to gain a minor but positive outcome that varies depending on your situation… It is slightly more enjoyable than it sounds.
Pros:
You can play it one-handed.
The constant speed of the action portions of the game means no surprises and no unexpected clenching.
The music is fun in short bursts.
There is a level of intellect required to properly manage your resources. You can’t just blast through everything without thinking.
Some of the dialog is clever and made me smile.
Cons:
You have to turn your phone sideways.
I have no idea what some of the mechanics do and I don’t care enough to find out.
You have to grind or buy to progress.
If you fail too many times, you have to pay or wait to progress. Though if you have average trips to the toilet, you probably won’t be on long enough reach that point.
Conclusion:
If you’re one of those people that gets off on hitting buttons at just the right time and getting bonuses because of your perfect timing, you’ll probably enjoy this. If you don’t, then you’re not going to enjoy about 60% of what the game has to offer. That being said, this game has a 4-point-something out of five rating, so it seems a lot of people like it.
