Now that I do something I enjoy (writing and designing games), sick days have lost their appeal.
Whether it was in high school or as an adult, a sick day meant unrestrained video game access or binging TV. Who cares if that’s all I did? It was a sick day!
Now, I don’t want to sleep in. I want to get my work done. I want to write. Spending all most of my day doing less than a full day’s work feels less rewarding than doing a normal amount of work, but it’s hard to relax and take the day off.
But I love doing what I do. And I’ll take all the negative emotions I have right now over having a jolly sick day but having to go back to a job I hate.
I’m with you. Hooray for being excited to wake up in the morning and get to work. 🙂
